TASK 3 (FIRDAUS)

TOPIC: HEALTHY FOOD NO OF STUDENTS: 24

SUMMARY OF LESSON

The objective of this lesson is to provide the students the opportunity to read more articles or reading material in English. Students will be asked to surf the internet and search for the website given by the teacher. Then students are asked to read and draw a pyramid according to the information given in the website.

Set Induction

i) Teacher asks students what kind of food they like to eat.

ii) Teacher selects some students to give examples of healthy food.

iii) Teacher then shows the students a poster of healthy foods and asks students to name the foods in the picture

iv) Teacher introduces the topic.

Activity 1

i) Teacher asks the students to sit in pair

ii) Teacher asks each pair to open the website http://kidshealth.org/teen/food_fitness/nutrition/pyramid.html

iii) Teacher asks the students to open the interactive food guide pyramid

iv) Teacher selects some pairs to click on the pyramid’s colour and read the information that the colour represents.

v)Teacher asks the students to click the “take the quiz” button and asks the pairs to answer the questions

vi) Teacher and students will check their answer together

Activity 2

i) Teacher asks the students to form four groups

ii) Teacher distributes to each group one situation card

iii) Teacher asks each group to draw a pyramid and colour it according to the information given in the cards. Each group also needs to provide example of foods that is suitable for the information in the cards.

iv) Teacher monitor students progress and facilitate if necessary

v) Teacher asks each group to present their answer.

Closure

Teacher recaps the lesson by asking students the moral value of the lesson. Teacher also reminds the students to read more English material to enhance their knowledge and eat healthy food.

Situation A

Ali wants to eat foods that are rich with nutrients and also naturally low in fat and calories. He also wants to use oil with unsaturated fats.

Situation B

Fatimah wants to eat food that can build her muscles and increase her immune system. She also wants to eat food that rich in nutrients and contains fiber.

Situation C

Rizal needs foods that are suitable to build strong bones and foods that are rich with vitamin C and potassium.

Situation D

Azhar’s father wants to eat food that will give his body energy and food that contains calcium. He also wants to eat a dessert that is naturally low in fat and calories.
